Considering Kids at Your Wedding

How to Decide Whether You Want Kids at Your Wedding

Picture this: you are planning your wedding with your partner and it is time to decide on the guest list. Floral arrangements have been picked, the cake has been designed, and your venue is booked.. but now you have to make the important decision: kids or no kids allowed?

While planning your wedding, we tend to mostly focus only on the adults in attendance- but what about the kids? When you are assigning everyone their dinner tables, it is important to consider where you will place the kids and if they’ll even enjoy the fine dining offered. The minutia of wedding planning is overwhelming without considering children, but planning with children can make it even more daunting. We are here to help narrow down your decision process and help make prioritizing your small guests easy!

Deciding Factors:

1. Consider the venue you are hosting your special day.

Whether your venue has scenic features like rocks or water, it is important to consider the safety hazards that these can present to any child that attends. Making yourself aware of present hazards (even the ones you might not think of immediately, like stairs) is an easy way to avoid any stress on your wedding day.

2. Consider the decorations and/or events that you are planning to host.

Will the food be laid out on a table within reach of little ones? How will you display your cake? Will there be intricate table settings with items like an open flame or glass? Planning on having that first dance on a dance floor, where all eyes are on you but your loved ones' small children are just wiggling with excitement to join you? What about an open bar? Is this something that could be easily accessed by any guests under the age of 21?

3. Will you provide childcare?

Surprise- another thing to add to your ever growing list of things to consider for your wedding! You may want a child-free wedding, but the questions start flooding in when you say “except for the ring bearer and flower girl.” But even so, what about them? Will you provide childcare to your family and friends that cannot find a babysitter for the night because they’re traveling from abroad or another state? Will those babysitters be on-site and provide all the toys and activities or will you have them off-site and tell parents to bring their own bags of toys and activities?  Quality childcare is something that should be accessible to everyone- regardless of the amount of children or accommodations needed! Yours Truly LLC is in charge of providing care for children of all ages that involves meeting emotional, physical, and psychological needs, both off and on-site event locations, during non-traditional hours, and matches with state child to adult ratio to ensure an optimal experience.

Wow- that was a lot to think about…and it was only one hot topic on your wedding to-do list!

Now that you are more aware about the impacts of having children at your wedding, let’s think about the advantages of having even the littlest of guests. Making lifelong memories during your wedding should be the main focus- and eliminating any stress related to children attending or a good friend not being able to attend because they cannot leave their child at home,  is exactly why YoursTrulyLLC is here to help!
